I have to admit I really like the changes we are making on Sunday mornings. It seems to provide a much more natural way to respond to the prompting of the Holy Spirit and it just plain gives people more time. Soooo, change is good. We'll add some more ways to respond to God on Sundays over the coming weeks.
I have realized that I need change in my personal life. I don't know about you, but I have found myself doing the same things at the same pace and often failing to realize I am running on a lot less energy. Or I see that I have added significant responsibilities and expect the same level of output in each area. Not very smart.
So the summer just might be a good time to evaluate our life and discover what needs to be delegated to others or simply dropped. It also means we may need to add some things.
I’m trying to add a regular workout schedule. My problem is that working out no longer makes me feel better. I’m not getting the endorphins I used to get. I just know I need to do it to remain healthy. Our walk with God can be like that sometimes.
So what needs to change this summer? What do we need to do that may not feel good? And what do we need to stop doing even though it feels real good? (Like eating a bowl of Breyers ice cream every night- I used to but no longer). I’m excited about what God is doing in our time together on Sunday morning and in many of our lives. I am grateful He gives us the grace to change - even in the summer time.
