I’ve been doing a daily devotional Bible study with my small group. So far it has been somewhat non-eventful, but today was a surprise. About halfway through I read these words: “Don’t spend your time wishing you could get out of the season of life you are in; rather, spend your time looking fervently for God’s hand in your situation.”
That was not so profound in itself, yet it nailed me to the wall. I have been wishing, dreaming, praying to get out of this season I’m in. I don’t like this season. At least I don’t like certain aspects of this season. (Financial stress has never been fun to me.)
Now the Bible study was not finished yet; the writer goes on: “When seeking God’s guidance, always take into account the activity He is allowing in your life at that time. The Enemy’s discouraging voice tells us what we could do “if.” The voice of God tells us what we should do now.” (emphasis mine)
I want to know what God wants NOW; I want to know what to do NOW. So I’m listening hard and I think this is God’s word for me today. I don’t want to be caught looking back or looking forward, and miss the fruit of the moment. There may just be some real gold buried right under my feet. Will I be willing to dig for the treasure, even though things are far from perfect? I say its worth a try, how about you?
